Teacher Training, Workshops and Course

Beginners Level One Course commences Monday 4 October 5.15pm .  Level One 6 Week Course are beneficial to Students who have not done Yoga before, have not attended any classes at Chevron Island Yoga Centre before or have not been to the Centre for some time.  The course will be focussing on beginners poses and correct usage of props including wall ropes and benches.  This workshop will give you confidence to prepare you for a class environment - $90.

Simon will be holding his next workshop 30 and 31 October,  Saturday 30 October 11am-1.00pm, 2.00-4.30pm, Sunday 9.30am-1pm.  Cost is $130 - Registration ONLY.   

Simon Maurizio Marrocco is the founder/director of the St Kilda Yoga School in Melbourne since 1989. In 1986, he began practicing Iyengar Yoga in Melbourne. He has taught workshops in major countries around the world and runs Iyengar Yoga Teachers Training Courses during the year. He is a Senior Intermediate Iyengar Yoga teacher, an assessor and serves on the Iyengar Yoga Certification Committee, Australia.  Simon travels yearly to Pune, India, to study with BKS Iyengar, Geeta Iyengar, and Prashat Iyengar.

IYENGAR TEACHER TRAINING or PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT WITH SIMON MARROCCO

Take your yoga to the next level with our new Intro 1 teacher training course.

Spanning 8 full weekends 140 hours the course will be instructed by Maurizio (Simon) Marrocco, a qualified Senior Int level Iyengar teacher, and will be held at Chevron Island Yoga Centre.  The first three dates of the Year are : January 29- 30, March 5- 6 and April 2-3 commencing 7.00am-5pm.

The course is divided into three main components:

1. The Technical process of teaching
2. The practice of Yoga
3. Theory and Philosophy of Yoga


The course will take place over 8 weekends commencing 26 June 2010 - Saturday 9.30am-5pm and Sunday 7am-5pm.  Full dates for the year will be posted on the website shortly.   You will be required to complete assignments throughout the year, and also undertake a daily practice in the Iyengar Method. The Course Content will cover thoroughly a detailed study of the

Anasas and Pranayamas of the syllabus and the practice sequences Of the Intro Level 1 & 2 Iyengar Yoga Syllabus. Observation and  Guidance to the potential teacher will be given in these main important areas. Requirements and ethics of  a yoga teacher. Organisation of a class. Presenting an Asana-Sequencing.Verbal Instruction - The importance of voice and the use of clear language. Observing the breathing of the student. Observation and correction of students-Adjusting. Performance in demonstration effectiveness.  Precision in teaching and Pacing.
